EAWE Technical Committee on Wake and Wind Farm Aerodynamics monthly seminar
We are excited to invite you to the ninth seminar, hosted by the EAWE Technical Wake and Wind Farm Aerodynamics Committee. Mark your calendars for April 24, 2025!
Join for an insightful webinar on “Reducing wake losses estimation uncertainty using a multi-fidelity approach.”
🎤 Speaker: Antoine Mathieu, eDF
📅 Date: April 24, 2025
🕒 Time: 4:00 PM CET (1 hour)
Understanding the uncertainty in wake loss estimation is crucial for the economic success of offshore wind projects. The Horizon-Europe project FLOW is tackling this challenge by advancing our knowledge of atmospheric flows and refining wind farm modeling techniques.
In this session, Antoine will introduce an uncertainty quantification framework for wake model calibration, integrating WIFA (Wind Farm API)—a cutting-edge, open-source multi-fidelity wind farm prediction tool. He’ll dive into the different models embedded in WIFA, including engineering wake models, atmospheric perturbation models, and CFD models, showcasing how they enhance model calibration and provide insights into modeling uncertainties.
Established in May 2021, the EAWE Technical Wake and Wind Farm Aerodynamics Committee serves as a dynamic hub for knowledge exchange and collaboration in wake and wind farm aerodynamics.
Chaired by Stefan Ivanell (Uppsala universitet), the committee drives advancements in the field by:
- Organizing the bi-annual Wake Conference, bringing together experts to share insights and innovations.
- Leading initiatives to enhance modeling and experimental techniques for better wind farm performance.
- Fostering collaboration across academia and industry to push the boundaries of wind energy research.
Let’s work together to advance the future of wind energy!
