💡 About the webinar
Offshore wind farms are frequently located beneath marine cloud systems. In fact, clouds cover nearly 65% of the Earth’s surface annually. Low-altitude marine clouds play a crucial role in driving air motions that enhance the transport of heat and moisture in the lower atmosphere, shaping key atmospheric conditions such as temperature, humidity, and turbulence.
During his PhD research, Davide Selvatici explored how clouds influence the interaction between offshore wind farms and the surrounding atmosphere and how wind farms, in turn, may affect cloud layers themselves.
In this presentation, he will share key findings focusing on three main aspects:
• The influence of cloud presence on wind farm wakes
• How variations in tropospheric moisture affect wind farm performance
• The feedback effects of wind farms on marine cloud layers
Hosted by the EAWE Technical Wake and Wind Farm Aerodynamics Committee, chaired by Stefan Ivanell (Uppsala University), this series provides a leading platform for advancing modeling, experimentation, and collaboration in wind energy research.
