We are excited to invite you to the 11th seminar in the series, hosted by the EAWE Technical Wake and Wind Farm Aerodynamics Committee. Mark your calendars for September 18, 2025!

Join for an insightful webinar on “A Blind Test on Wind Turbine Wake Modelling: Benchmark Results and Phase II Announcement.”

Abstract:
Accurate prediction of turbine wake interactions is essential for optimizing wind farm performance, yet it remains a complex challenge. This webinar presents a two-phase blind test campaign designed to benchmark numerical models and assess wake control techniques using highly controlled wind tunnel experiments in two different wind tunnel facilities using state of the art measurement techniques.

The talk will discuss:
•    Insights from Phase I: Benchmarking results from a baseline, no-control scenario using two wind turbine models at the Technical University of Munich wind tunnel. Results from 5 independent numerical predictions are presented and discussed.
•    A look ahead to Phase II: Experimental setup and inflow conditions featuring active blade pitch control for advanced wake manipulation and model validation. Results come from the same wind turbine models tested at the wind tunnel of the National Technical University of Athens. This is an open invite to interested parties to participate.
o    Comparison data will include Turbine load, power, and wake velocity measurements under precisely controlled conditions.

About the EAWE Technical Wake and Wind Farm Aerodynamics Committee:
Established in May 2021, the EAWE Technical Wake and Wind Farm Aerodynamics Committee serves as a dynamic hub for knowledge exchange and collaboration in wake and wind farm aerodynamics.
Chaired by Stefan Ivanell (Uppsala University), the committee drives advancements in the field by:
- Organizing the bi-annual Wake Conference, bringing together experts to share insights and innovations.
- Leading initiatives to enhance modeling and experimental techniques for better wind farm performance.
- Fostering collaboration across academia and industry to push the boundaries of wind energy research.

Let’s work together to advance the future of wind energy!
